It's all Chinese!
While we take of in our small plane Kathmandu becomes smaller and smaller. Our faces are pointed in the direction of the east where our little friends of the Noble House wave their goodbyes to every plane which takes of around 6pm. We also wave for the last time to Bhaktapur, the Noble House, the kids, Utsab and Sita. Clouds surround us and we sit in our own thoughts thinking about the last couple of months and the journey that starts again.

On the road to Chengdu
With the advice from the police to stay the first days on bigger roads and not to cycle into forbidden areas we start cycling again. Its a little change of our plans, but that doesn't matter. In Anquin we cross the Yangtze River and we spend the night next to this big river with all its traffic. For a while we think it's nice to follow the river up to Wuhan, but we change our minds quickly when we see the ugly and stinky factories. We find a small road into the countryside and we enjoy the Chinese working on the fields. The police don't stop us so we can continue our trip.

Cycling through the mud in beautiful China

But now it doesn't seem wise to do so. Instead we cycle south to mountains and roads with a lower altitude. The first days after Chengdu we take it easy. Marlous gets tired very soon and after 50 km cycling we've had enough for each day. It's getting easier to breath and we feel great to leave the big city behind us.

After 4208 kilometer: Zai Zhen China!
After some wonderful days in Lijiang we leave this touristy place. The sun is shining and we can see the snow peaks of the Yulonxue Shan almost the whole day. This mountain with the altitude of 5596 meter is by far the highest mountain in the surrounding area. We climb to 3000 meter where we treat ourselves at French bread with peanut butter, which we bought at a real French bakery in Lijiang.
