Cooking

When we’re on the road we like to cook ourselves. Especially when we camp we’ll be sitting in front of our tent to prepare a nice meal.

STOVE
We prepare our meals on the XGK Expedition stove made by MSR. This stove is a so-called multi fuel stove. It runs on petrol, gasoline and more. In the past we used the little brother of the XGK, the Whisperlite. This stove was made for the "clean" fuels. The MSR Whisperlite has been perfect in Europe. But because we cycle in countries where the fuel isn't as clean as in Europe we bought the XGK.

COOKING PANS
For our cooking we use two cooking pans made by Trangia. These pans are made of aluminum outside with stainless steel inside. The advantage of the aluminum outside is the conduction of heat. The stainless steel inner part of the pans is easy to clean. Besides the two cooking pans we also have one frying pan that fit's on top of the two other pans.

WATERFILTER
To get clean drinking water we use a water filter made by MSR. The so-called miniWorks is a ceramic and carbon filter for cleaning water. This little pump can clean about 1 liter of water per minute and weights 456 grams.

BEVERAGE BAG
We can carry the clean water with us inside the MSR Dromedary Beverage Bag. This is a big black bag where we can store 4 liters of water. The Beverage Bag fits our water filter for easy water pumping. The advantage of a beverage bag is that when it's empty it doesn't take a lot of space.

ELECTRIC BOILER
In Turkey we’ve decided that we needed something to make a cup of soup or coffee when sleeping in a hotel. We’ve found an electric boiler the size of a tube of toothpaste and we’re really happy with it. Now we just plug it in and hang the boiler in a cup of water.

SUPPLIES
We always try to take some supplies with us when we’re on the road. Enough to make a meal when needed. Pasta, rice, coffee, soup and herbs are in our “storage-bag”.
